[Name]: Captain Marvelous
[Canon]: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and also Super Sentai and the greater Toei Tokusatsu universe but we'll just stick with his main series there for that
[Age]: 20s
[Gender]: Male
[Canon Point]: After "Go-Busters VS Gokaiger"

[History]: http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_Marvelous

[Personality]: Marvelous is a man that keeps his true self and intentions masked, with varying levels of success. On the outside, he is a pirate through and through. He is rebellious. He takes orders from no man. If he sees something he wants, he takes it. If something is happening he doesn't like, or someone crosses him, he'll wreck them without a moment's hesitation.

Often times, he can come across seemingly disinterested or annoyed with things that cross his path and slow down his goals at the moment, whatever they might be. This happens a lot, in fact, leaving an impression that he may be easily perturbed. Going back to his "varying levels of success" of masking his intentions, however, it's clear that this annoyance is at times feigned. Many, many times these "distractions" end up being people in need, or circumstance sets him and his crew up to be a line of defense against harm against the world at large. In the end, Marvelous and the Gokaiger team always do the right thing and save the world as any Super Sentai worth their salt would, but for a very long time, Marvelous would play this up as their enemies having ticked him off personally, or he was merely disposing of them to get what HE wanted.

In reality, pirate or not, Marvelous is also very much a hero. He was saved and inspired by a hero - the Space Sheriff known as Gavan - at a young age. He was taken in and trained by the very embodiment of the Red Heroes of all Super Sentai, AkaRed. He may want you to believe everything he does, he does for his own personal gain, but nothing could be further from the truth. He never takes praise, he would never CALL himself a hero, and often times doesn't even get rewarded for his deeds, but when the chips are down, he is the leader of the 35th Super Sentai, and that means coming through to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Protecting dreams is very important to him, as is protecting his crew. His crew is his family, and those he cares the most about. Anything that puts them in danger will be faced with a gun and/or sword to the face. He will do ANYTHING to protect the other Gokaigers, no matter how much danger it puts his own health in. It is not just his crew's dreams that are important, though - upon realizing his own view of what it means to be a leader and a Captain, he has come to realize the importance of protecting the dreams of those who can't otherwise do it. He will, of course, do this in a pirate fashion... but as it is said above, he will usually find a way to do the right thing in that regard.

Still, he has a reputation to uphold, and he still does a pretty good job of that. Even now, after all that's happened, he can, will, and just looks for the perfect opportunity to fight dirty. Whether its pulling the wool over your eyes, downright lying, or stabbing you in the back, Marvelous can be pretty ruthless even when his goals are to the betterment or protection of others. He will even be willing to trick his own crew or other heroes to win, and luckily for him those gambits have always paid off with everyone coming back together to beat down whatever threat was before them.

While most of the time serious and blunt, if something strikes his fancy and gets him excited, he can be very enthusiastic about carrying his task through. His sense of adventure shines through when pursuing a specific goal, and he can change from a seemingly bored grumbler to someone with the glint of a kid in a candy store depending on what direction you point him in.

Marvelous does not suffer betrayal lightly, however. (Actual betrayal, not like the ploys used to trick his enemies in Super Hero Taisen or Busters VS Gokaiger.) His greatest enemy, Basco, was once one of his closest friends until both Marvelous and AkaRed were sold out by him to the Zangyack Empire. This resulted in a bitter, years long feud between the two that finally came to a head in a showdown where Marvelous killed him to protect his crew. Marvelous holds friendships in extremely high regard, and to throw those away is probably the gravest sin you can preform in his eyes.

It probably goes without saying, but Marv is super cocky, too. He rarely enters a fight without thinking he's going to win, initiating most encounters with his enemies with the battle cry of, "Let's make a show of it!" In fact, he's really into the idea of fighting in a stylish manner, which is clearly evident any time he takes the field. If asked about his over confidence, he'd probably scoff. Even when they've lost, his team has gotten back up on their feet and come back around. He's over confident, sure, but he'd tell you that's deserved.

So while he may come across to others as uncouth or uncaring, or even a sarcastic and greedy asshole, he does care quite a bit. Far more than one would think upon first impression. He is a pirate first, but in the end, he is also the leader of a Super Sentai. Both of these are now badges he wears with the utmost honor.

[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]: Marvelous is a superb swordsman, not to mention an amazing marksman, and is generally very, very skilled in battle. He's able to juggle both skills at once without missing a beat, frequently charging into battle with both his sword and gun in hand.

With the use of his Mobirates device, combined with his Gokaiger Ranger Key, he can transform into Gokai Red. In this form, his strength and the general level of damage he can take are increased considerably. He CAN be hurt in this form, though, and often has been severely injured and near death after things like ... oh, being stabbed or taking a bomb to the face.

But just feed him after, he'll probably be fine. I'm sure the straw hats can relate to this.

He used to be able to change into just about any Super Sentai warrior, but those powers have been returned to their rightful owners at this point. (Twice!)

He has access to a few weapons, two of which he can use regardless of being transformed or not. These two are the Gokai Gun and Gokai Saber. The gun's ammunition is seemingly limitless, but rarely does a whole lot of damage. Both weapons can launch a super charged finishing attack in the form of "Final Wave" blasts triggered by inserting a Ranger Key into them. ANY Ranger Key can work for this, so if Marv borrows a teammate's or somehow just gets his hand on another Ranger Key, he can trigger both finishing attacks at the same time. Generally, the Final Wave is only used when transformed and I figure if he tried it otherwise he'd probably knock himself on his ass.

There is also the Gokai Galleon Buster, which can only be summoned when there are multiple Gokaigers present. The lowest number of them that's done this is four, but they still need FIVE Keys to trigger its ultimate attack, which is basically a very large blast of power shaped like their ship. As this would take at least five of his team to pull off, I'm putting this here JUST IN CASE, though it would obviously be awhile before it could ever possibly be a factor.

[Limited Powers]: All things told, Marvelous isn't terribly powerful without an entire case full of Ranger Keys to utilize. Transformed, he's far stronger than your average human, but not overwhelmingly so. In the end, Marv's greatest strength isn't in his powers, but in his cunning. Its his smarts and unorthodox tactics that have won the day numerous times. It's that which has allowed him to defeat enemies - like Basco - who were far more powerful than him, not any one super power. All those did was keep him alive long enough to pull things off. So I'd judge there's probably little need to lower his powers, as canon has already taken care of that.

In regards to the Gokai Galleon Buster, again it would take five of his team to pull it off, and should we ever get that many Gokaigers in here I don't find it too terribly unreasonable that five separate players could pull off a powerful attack considering how much set up it takes.

[Other Important Facts]: Not terribly much, really. Just keep him fed and give him some treasure to search after, he'll be fantastic~

♦ Thread: You want some threads?

I've GOT some threads.

[High Seas Test Drive]
Most recently, where he tries to eat and fails, and gets stuck with people places he'd rather not be.
[Other games]
And from Digital Dive, several threads:
Marvelous attempts to take his ship through the atmosphere of a world that doesn't want to let him go.
Marvelous is scolded on his eating habits.
Marvelous verbally spars with a Digimon villain.
Marvelous finds another sort of fanboy.
Marvelous has an extensive reaction and resulting discussion to an in-game event where characters are made excessively lovey-dovey and ... well. It's a long talk.

♦ Post:

Several days out at sea, and I really miss the Galleon. Not just because we'd already be there - not being able to fly really makes things a lot slower. But everything's a whole hell of a lot more sparse on this ship than back home. No radar to detect incoming enemies, and the wooden hull is nothing compared to what the Galleon was made out of.

But, heh, y'know what?

I'm kind of okay with that.

Maybe things were getting too easy back home, since we kicked Zangyack's ass yet again, or what little was left of it. Not a whole lot left that could stand against us after all of that.

This is a challenge, and that's actually sort of FUN.

It'll be even MORE fun once I beat everyone else to this thing.

So, bring it on!
